Huge brutal pickup truck “Vepr Next”.

The goal pursued by the GAZ designers is extremely simple – to create a pickup truck that is as unified as possible with the already produced cars. The Russian, like the Soviet auto industry, does not indulge the consumer with pickup trucks – this niche is mainly occupied by foreign-made cars.
GAZ decided not to waste time on trifles and create a brutal pickup truck that will be of interest not only to the military leadership, but also to civilian buyers with its cross-country ability, reliability, comfort and versatility.
This pickup truck was created on the basis of the Sadko serial truck (GAZ-33088) – the pickup truck was based on a spar frame, axles with self-locking differentials and a tire pressure adjustment system. The Vepr Next suspension is assembled on polyelliptical springs and supplemented with double-acting shock absorbers. A plug-in front axle, a ground clearance of 31.5 centimeters, wide eighteen-inch wheels, high angles of ascent and descent endowed Vepr Next with great off-road potential – off-road, in snow and mud, the pickup truck is in no way inferior to the famous Shishiga.
As a power plant, the engines of the Yaroslavl Motor Plant are installed on the Vepr Next pickups – a four-cylinder YaMZ-534 turbodiesel with a volume of 4.4 liters and issuing 149 horses at 2400 rpm. Although the YaMZ-534 engine was developed “from scratch" and is produced relatively recently, it has already managed to establish itself as reliable and unpretentious. Paired with the engine are a five-speed manual gearbox "razdatka" with a low gear.
And now a little about comfort – in standard configurations, the pickup truck is equipped with a hydraulic booster, ABS, comfortable anatomical seats for the driver and front passenger, and a sofa for the rear. By the way, six people can comfortably accommodate in a two-row cabin.
As mentioned earlier, Vepr Next is not aimed at conquering the army market, but rather the opposite – it will be of interest to fishermen and hunters, and can be used in forestry and hunting farms. A pickup truck can take as much as 2.5 tons of payload on board, but only with a total weight of 6.8 tons, you will need category “C” rights to drive a pickup truck.
