The novelty of the Bavarian brand will be an all-electric version of the new generation BMW X1, which will hit the market next year.<\/p>\n

BMW introduced<\/a> its compact crossover in 2009, the current second generation arrived in 2015. Two years later, this model was updated. The peak year for the “second” X1 was 2017, when old world<\/a> dealers sold 118,051 units. Customers bought 88,486 units during Covid 2020, down 18.5% from 2019<\/a>, according to Carsalesbase. At the end of last year, the figure fell even more: 86,749 units were sold, which is 2% less than a year earlier.<\/p>\n

The Bavarian manufacturer is currently working on the third generation of the X1. This entry-level model is expected to hit the market next year. Previously, photo spies have already captured prototypes of the future novelty, hidden by camouflage film, on road tests – Kolesa.ru posted photos of cars during tests conducted in southern Europe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, the next-generation compact crossover will also get an all-electric version: the BMW iX1. The company has not previously shown what this “green” novelty looks like, but now it has given an idea of \u200b\u200bu200bu200bwhat this electric car will look like. Today, a sketch of the future SUV was published: judging by the image, the car will have all the traditional design<\/a> elements of BMW models.<\/p>\n

Placed in the place of the traditional grille, the end cap is designed in the form of branded “nostrils”, but at the same time it looks more square and smaller than, for example, the BMW i7 and iX models. Also, judging by the sketch, the model will have blue trim elements similar to those on the BMW i3 hatchback. The design of the double light elements in the headlights, recognizable from other models of the brand, is also emphasized.<\/p>\n

Probably, similar to the BMW iX3 and X3 (with internal combustion engines<\/a>), the iX1 all-electric SUV will be practically a copy of the new X1. With the exception of a plug instead of the grille, decorative elements and a different shape of the lower part of the rear bumper (the place for the exhaust system will be closed here).<\/p>\n

There is no official information about the “stuffing” of the novelty yet. The SUV may be based on a revised version of the current UKL X1 platform. The car is likely to receive a 286-horsepower electric motor, as well as a traction battery that will allow it to travel more than 320 km without recharging. It is assumed that such indicators will allow the model to compete for buyers with competitors such as the Volvo XC40 P8 Recharge and Mercedes-Benz EQA.<\/p>\n

The Bavarian automaker plans to produce two million fully green cars by the end of 2025. By 2030, the company expects that at least half of its total global shipments will come from electric vehicles<\/a>.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
