The presentation of the most powerful version of the sports car<\/a> of the German brand is scheduled to take place in November<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n

In 2020, affected by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, Porsche dealers sold 73,840 vehicles in Europe<\/a>. This result is only 5.4% less than a year earlier. This year, the brand has returned to positive dynamics – in the first eight months (more recent data is not yet available), customers bought 47,295 cars, which is 4.1% more than in January-August last year.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the Porsche 718 Cayman \/ Boxter continues to decline in the old-world<\/a> market. So, over the past year, the model sold 6663 copies, which is 10% less than in 2019<\/a>. And this year, the sports car<\/a> still has a “minus”: in January-August, 4,068 cars were sold, which is 11% less than in the first eight months of 2020.<\/p>\n

The family of sports cars of the German brand will soon be expanded: Porsche plans to introduce a new modification of the sports car in November – the 718 Cayman GT4 RS<\/a>. The version will be the first mid-engined Porsche with the RS prefix to the name. Such a car will have a mass less than that of the “regular” 718 Cayman, which will affect the dynamic performance.<\/p>\n

Visually, the RS-version of the sports car can be distinguished by a pair of air intakes integrated into the hood, an aerodynamic body kit, in addition, the stern was equipped with a larger rear wing. The car that completed the N\u00fcrburgring Nordschleife received Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires (which will be available as an option) as well as a racing seat.<\/p>\n

The current Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 coupe is equipped with a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder with 420 hp. Previously, only a manual transmission was offered to him in a pair, but later the “robot” PDK joined the line of transmissions.<\/p>\n

There is no official information about the “stuffing” of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS yet. So far, it is only known that the engine will be noticeably shaped, it is possible that the output will be increased to 500-510 hp. The kit for this motor will offer a robotic gearbox. There are no other details yet, but the results of the Nurburgring Nordschleife race are known.<\/p>\n

Factory tester J\u00f6rg Bergmeister took part in the race. The rider completed the 20.832 km circle in 7 minutes and 9.3 seconds. At the same time, the time of the “old” short circle (its length is 20.6 km) was 7 minutes and 4.511 seconds (this result is a solid 23.6 seconds less than that of the base version<\/a> of the Cayman GT4 sports car). Now the Nurburgring record is still held by another model of the brand – the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, its “old” lap time is 6 minutes 38.84 seconds.<\/p>\n
