2021 Lego Technic Flagship Ferrari 488 GTE Set
Hello! Malefic speaks and shows and today we will talk about the biggest and most anticipated Lego Technic set of the first half of the new 2021.
Just recently we were discussing a small licensed Lego set released in conjunction with the British McLaren, and just five days later a new licensed set, this time with the iconic Italian Ferrari. And here we have something to surprise, please and disappoint, what is there to hide.
And we start, of course, with the box. This is where I see success. Many buyers who come just to look will fall in love with this set at first sight and buy. The designers did their best. Pleasant red tones, the play of light, shadow and mirror reflection. Favorable position #auto. These are all components of a successful sale.
In general, the design is quite minimalistic, not overloaded with many photos and angles. We mark the mark 18+, the set is collectible, and not just ordinary. The box contains a lot more data, but we'll talk about all of them below.
Recently, there is less text and information in press releases and more and more photos and videos. Therefore, you have to work “by touch” looking at pictures and collecting bits of information.
First of all, I want to discuss the gigantic amount of stickers that cover the supercar from top to bottom. On the one hand, we unmistakably guess that this is a racing car specifically designed for sports. On the other hand, we get an incredible amount of colorful advertising (we also pay a lot of money for it) and get a parrot car. In general, I always attribute stickers to the minuses of the set, but this time I will speak in a neutral way. After all, exactly the same stickers cover the original car. #supercars #sportscars
The dimensions of the supercar will delight collectors and Orlando Bloom (read why here). They are: 48 cm long and 13 cm high. For some reason, the width is not specified.
I consider the headlights to be outright hack-work. Look closely – these are also stickers! Incredibly, instead of figuring out how to competently and beautifully fit aggressive and bright details, they were simply pasted on the panels. Somehow fi.
As for the rear, here the Legovites nevertheless deserved to do everything more or less acceptable.
A lot of questions arise from buyers, collectors and just connoisseurs of #Lego #Technic about the functionality. Still, this is why we love #Technician. What is moving here and how does it work?
You will be surprised, as I was, but there is not a single photo or video (from which it would be possible to take screenshots) with the functions or interior of the set. Well, how is it? Weird. Obviously the car doors open. It is also known that the model is equipped with a moving V8 engine, front and rear suspension, a working element of the steering wheel with the Ferrari symbol on it (interestingly, a sticker? Or a printed part?). That's actually all. Sounds like a standard set for any similar model. #race
Lars Krog Jensen, LEGO Technic designer:
Being able to recreate a #Ferrari in LEGO Technic form is an absolute childhood dream come true. Ferrari is famous for its truly incredible cars, so I knew I had to push the boundaries of the LEGO Technic system to do justice to the dominant racing track idol. This model captures the intricate silhouettes of the iconic vehicle, paying homage to its engineering prowess to capture the true essence of the 488 GTE. Assembly is a big challenge for any fan who appreciates great design and is interested in learning more about the engineering and technology that goes into making such an impressive car.
Alessandro Pier Guidi, official driver of the Ferrari Competizioni GT:
When I was a kid, I used to play with LEGO pieces quite often, so when I saw this Ferrari 488 GTE reproduction, I was really impressed, especially considering some of the features they were able to reproduce. I have to say that seeing the LEGO Technic model of the car that I raced and bore my name made me very proud.
A funny moment is the information from the press release that this is the first model that Lego designers created together with Ferrari specialists. It's funny because there are already about 4 #Ferrari models from Technicians, a lot of cars from System and even a whole series of Ferraris. What conclusions can we draw?
