The older models with a 2.0-liter Ford Duratec engine are still in service: on the Seven 360 and Seven 420 models, the atmospheric version of this engine produces 182 hp, 194 Nm and 213 hp, 203 Nm, respectively, and on the top Seven 620 models, the Ford unit is equipped with a drive supercharger, thanks to which the maximum return is 314 hp. and 297 Nm. In the near future, Caterham will introduce a new “intermediate” model with a 2.0-liter engine derated to about 150 hp, but the new base Caterham with an index of 170 debuted last week.

The Caterham Seven 170 is a development of the Seven 160 model, which debuted in 2013 and received a 660 cc Suzuki “turbo engine” designed for the Japanese company's kei cars. On the Seven 170 model, the output of this motor has been increased from 81 hp. and 107 Nm up to 85 hp and 116 Nm, while the acceleration time to 60 miles / h (96.56 km / h) increased from 6.5 to 6.9 s, the maximum speed was 161 km / h, became 169 km / h. Gearbox – only 5-speed “mechanics”.

The width of the sports car has decreased by 10 mm to 1470 mm. Curb weight – from 440 kg. The road version of the Seven 170S has a full windshield, while the track version of the Seven 170R has short windshields instead. In addition, the Seven 170R is equipped with a stiffer suspension, lighter sports seats with 4-point harnesses, a carbon-fiber instrument panel and a self-locking differential.
Prices for the Caterham Seven 170 start at £22,990 (2.3 million conventional units at current exchange rates).
In 2023, for its half-century anniversary, Caterham promises to introduce the electric sports car EV Seven, the development of which is already in full swing.
