Another restyled Skoda Kodiaq: more “sport” on the outside and a redesigned interior

The Czech brand has announced an updated crossover for China. Outwardly, this Kodiak looks like a “charged” global version of the RS, but the engine has not changed.

In Europe, the updated Skoda Kodiaq was presented in the spring, and the first recently took place in early September. In China, the facelifted SUV is gearing up for its debut: the local Ministry of Industry snapshots included the SUV last summer, but official images have only now circulated. As is often the case in the Middle Kingdom, “their” version has its own characteristics.

The radiator grille and optics of the Chinese standard Kodiak-2022 are borrowed from the “world” crossover, and the bumpers are like the “hot” version of the RS. By the way, Skoda did the same with the new “celestial” Octavia: the liftback with the Pro stem also looks in the style of the global “Ereski”.

The interior of the crossover, intended for the PRC, completely belongs to him. So, if the global SUV in the interior has not changed much, then the “Chinese” received a new front panel, now the screen of the multimedia system “floats” (the model for other countries has it built into the panel), the central air outlets were made horizontal, and the side still vertical) is now “permeated” with a silvery decorative insert. Local media reports that the media tablet size is 12 inches, while in other markets it is a maximum of 9.2 inches. Well, the touch control unit “climate” appeared in the Chinese cross in April.

Skoda Kodiaq updated for China

The technique, according to the documents of the certification body, is the same. In China, the Skoda Kodiaq is equipped with a 2.0 TSI EA888 series four-cylinder turbo engine with 186 or 220 hp, which is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch robotic gearbox. The SUV with a 220 horsepower engine has all-wheel drive.

a public demonstration of the updated Kodiaq is likely to take place at the Guangzhou Auto Show, which opens later this week. The model is, of course, produced locally, and the SAIC Volkswagen joint venture is responsible for production.
