Changed the image of Suzuki Baleno revealed before the premiere: photo without camouflage

The sedan now has a “bad” look, the interior has also been seriously redesigned. Such a “five-door” is expected to go on sale in early 2022, although the premiere could have been celebrated in advance.

A disguised Suzuki Baleno has already been filmed several times in India (the main production site is located there, the company is responsible for the production of Maruti Suzuki), and now the images of the hatchback have been released without a speck of camouflage: these shots have been copied on many local profile sites, they have also been posted on Team-BHP forum.

Recall that the “five-door” with the revived name (in the 90s, the whole Baleno family was in the Suzuki line) has been produced since 2015, it was modernized two years ago, but then there were not so many new products. This time, the model has been worked on more deeply: it is possible that Suzuki is positioning this Baleno as the next generation. By the way, the sedan was conceived as global, and the possibility of its appearance recently was also considered. But the model never reached us, it did not even take root in Europe: in this region, sales finally fell last year. In India, the hatch is in great demand: in the first half of the year, almost 94,000 cars were sold (then sales fell sharply, but this is not a lack of interest, but a shortage of semiconductors).

Thus, the sedan received a more “adult” design: wide headlights were replaced by optics with a predatory strabismus, taillights were no longer round thanks to additional sections located on the tailgate. The fifth door itself is new, as is the hood. The bumpers were also replaced, in addition, the radiator grille became larger. The car in recent pictures does not have fog lights, a rear wiper and chrome trim, meaning we have a “medium” version or even a basic one.

The dimensions of the new hatchback are still unknown, but the length, most likely, still does not exceed four meters (for pre-styling – 3995 mm), because such cars in India are eligible for tax benefits. The wheelbase of the predecessor is 2520 mm, the trunk volume is 339 liters.

We saw the interior in previous spy photos, even the interior of the Suzuki Baleno has changed dramatically: the model received a new front panel, climate control unit and steering wheel, and the touchscreen of the multimedia system now “floats”, so the central deflectors had to be moved lower (they are on the sides of the old hatch tablet).

Indian media believe that the “five-door” retained the four-cylinder “atmospheric” 1.2 petrol, which produces 83 hp compared to the current model. Boxes, probably, have not changed either: 5MKP or CVT. The pre-reform Suzuki Baleno with “mechanics” can also have a hybrid application in the form of a starter-generator (thus, the engine produces 90 hp). At the same time, some publications still predict a more powerful hybrid version of the model – apparently, we are talking about a full-fledged hybrid.

According to preliminary data, the new Baleno will hit the market in early 2022. However, the first show of such a model may take place this year.

Meanwhile, the Suzuki model has two Toyota-branded clones at the same time: the Toyota Glanza is still sold in India, while the Toyota Starlet is introduced in Africa. Of course, they are also waiting for a change of image.
