Honda is preparing the next generation CR-V: a new image of the hybrid crossover
It is expected that the sixth generation Japanese SUV will have only one version – a plug-in hybrid.
Honda has been producing the CR-V compact crossover since 1995. Since then, the model has managed to change generations several times. The SUV of the current fifth generation went on sale at the end of 2016. Now the Japanese manufacturer is developing the “sixth” CR-V, which, according to preliminary data, will enter the European market in the second half of 2022.

The old-world market is one of the main ones for the model. According to the results of the “covid” 2020, dealers sold 20,239 crossovers here, which is 38.5% less than a year earlier. This year, the results of Honda CR-V in Europe have grown slightly: in total from January to July (more recent data is not yet available), 10,523 copies were sold (1.6% more than in the first seven months of 2020).
Previously, prototypes of the sixth generation Honda CR-V have already come across photo spies during road tests, but there is no official information about how the new product will look like. This means that artists have the opportunity to offer their own version of what the exterior of the future SUV of the Japanese brand will be like. Last month, we published renders prepared by the designer Kolesa.ru, now the artist of the Spanish publication motor.es has shared his version.

If you believe the image, during the change of generation, the crossover will undergo quite serious changes in the design of the front end. It is assumed that the company will decide to bet on a more modern and sporty design, which will have “references” to the recently released Civic.
The car will have a different LED head optics, while the headlights, judging by the image, have a very concise shape. DRLs in the form of thin strips in the upper part are interconnected by a chrome bar. The headlights are framed by a large black grille, which received a pattern in the form of large honeycombs.

It is expected that the sixth generation CR-V will be offered only in a three-row version (it is designed for seven riders). Side mirrors, according to the current fashion, most likely, will not be attached to the corner of the window opening, but to the door panels. At the stern there will be other taillights, which will probably be placed horizontally.
According to preliminary data, the company intends to continue to reduce emissions, so most likely, the next generation Honda CR-V will be offered in only one option – a plug-in hybrid. This is not surprising, because the current version is already sold in Europe only as a hybrid, and the version with a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine was retired at the end of last year.
The new CR-V is expected to get an e:HEV system. We will learn more about exactly what this setup will be like for the SUV later. So far, the publication noted that it will include a lithium-ion battery, which will be able to provide the model with a range in purely electric mode for about 60 km.
