BMW is preparing the next generation 5 series: a new image

It is expected that the German brand car will be presented in 2023, and on sale in the European market will appear in 2024.

The Bavarian company BMW began production of the 5 Series in 1972. Over the past decades, the model has managed to change generations several times. The release of the current seventh generation model began in 2017. At the end of last year, 59,814 copies of the 5 Series were sold in the old world market, down 33% from the previous year. This year, the negative dynamics continues, for example, in the period from January to August (no more recent data yet), buyers bought 37,024 copies, which is 2.1% less than in the first eight months of 2020.

At the moment, BMW is already developing the eighth generation of the 5 series. Previously, spy photos of the prototype of the novelty were posted on the Web, which were hidden with a camouflage film. There is no official information about what the new product of the Bavarian brand will be: the company has not yet published a single teaser.

This means there is still room for artists to fantasize about the exterior of the next-generation BMW 5 Series. Judging by the new rendering, the car will retain the recognizable features of previous generations of models. The sedan is likely to receive an elongated head optics, which goes straight from the branded “radiator grille” and goes to the front fenders. The radiator grill in the form of recognizable “kidneys” is small (compared to the huge “nostrils” of some other models of the brand, such as the BMW iX).

In profile, the new generation of the BMW 5 Series features handles recessed into the door panels and large-diameter wheels. The image of the stern is still missing, but it is assumed that the model will have a different place for the position of the license plate, in addition, changes await the rear optics, as well as the lamp will change position, notifying the movement in reverse.

The interior will also see a few changes, including a different curved screen that is virtually “neat”. The car will also receive an expanded list of various driving assistants, thanks to which the so-called “autopilot” of the third level has appeared in the car.

According to preliminary data, BMW will rely on electrification in the preparation of the engine range for the next generation of the 5 Series. The line will include MHEV power units based on four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines; In addition, the model will have plug-in hybrids.

It is expected that the first official presentation of the new generation of the BMW 5 Series will take place in 2023, and the car will go on sale to the European market in 2024. The current sedan can be bought today recently: prices for the model start at 4.25 million rubles.
