Mazzanti Evantra Pura: thinner “Italian” with an American V8

4

Italian company Mazzanti Automobili has unveiled a new lightweight Pura version of its Evantra mid-engined supercar, powered by an upgraded 5.2-liter V8 engine from the Chevrolet Corvette.

We detailed the story of Mazzanti Automobili from the Italian city of Pontedera in 2016. Let us briefly recall that its roots go back to the 90s of the last century and to the car restoration workshop of Walter Faralli and Luca Mazzanti. In 2002, the partners decided to start producing their own cars and founded Faralli & Mazzanti. The first two models, named Antas and Vulca, had a very eccentric design with retro elements, after their release Faralli went bankrupt, the company simply changed its name to Mazzanti and began to develop a more traditional supercar.

In 2013, the Evantra mid-engined coupe saw the light of day, culminating in its evolution in terms of dynamic performance with the Millecavalli version (debuted in 2016) with a 7.2-liter 1000-horsepower V8 turbo engine on the GM block. The car is able to accelerate to 100 km / h in 2.7 if the maximum speed exceeds 400 km / h.

The Evantra Pura is much more modest in terms of power: it has a 5.2-liter GI V8 LT2 equipped with two turbochargers (in a naturally aspirated version it is installed on the basis of the current eighth generation Chevrolet Corvette), the maximum power is 761 hp at 6300 rpm and 910 Nm at 4300 rpm. The gearbox is a 7-speed robotic, gear shifting must be done manually using giant carbon or aluminum levers. Rear drive wheels. The first “hundred” Evantra Pura is gaining in 2.9 seconds, the maximum speed is more than 360 km / h.

The body of the Avantra Pura is based on a space frame made of steel and chrome-molybdenum tubes, while the outer panels are made of carbon fiber. Total length – 4325 mm, width – 1955 mm, height – 1225 mm, pitch – 2550 mm. Empty weight is 1290 kg versus 1350 kg for the Millecavalli version. Suspension: Type MacPherson “in a circle.” Brakes – Brembo carbon-ceramic, front discs – 380 mm (6-piston calipers), rear – 360 mm (4-piston calipers). Tire sizes fitted to OZ Racing rims are 255/35 R 19 at the front and 315/30 R 20 at the rear.

The interior is chosen by the customer, there are many options: the steering wheel, for example, can have a built-in screen and LED direction indicators, as in racing cars.

The first Mazzanti Evantra Pura concert will take place tomorrow in Florence as part of the Biennale Arte e Design. The company does not name the price, as well as the approximate circulation of the model, but in general, Mazzanti Automobili produces only about five cars a year, so the Evantra Pura is definitely not familiar on the roads.
