Great Toyota. All countries in the world where Toyota is the leader
Hello dear audience!
I have never been a fan of Toyota. But when you look at the extent to which cars of this brand are sold in the world, you begin to understand why Toyota is called divine, great, etc.
Let's take a look at global new car sales statistics for 2019. Let's start with the fact that Toyota Corporation sells the most new cars in the world: more than anyone else.
In general, the world top three for 2019 looks like this:
- 1st place – Toyota – 8.3 million cars
- 2nd place – Volkswagen – 6.6 million cars
- 3rd place – Ford – 4.9 million cars
As you can see, Toyota is leading by a significant margin. It's amazing how relatively small Japan has managed to capture the global market for new cars! However, now, in the era of globalization, brand cars are assembled not only in Japan itself, but also in many other countries.
Toyota Corporation sells more than 8 million cars a year in the world. Nobody else can do this
Moreover: starting from 2016, Toyota's sales result has always been: more than 8 million copies per year! Incredible stability!
It is interesting to see how many countries Toyota managed to take the lead.
Let's start with Toyota's native Asian region.
Asia
Japan
Of course, in their native country, Toyota is in first place. She leads by an incredible margin. You just look:
- Toyota – over 1.5 million vehicles sold!
- Honda – sold 722 thousand cars
Thailand
In Thailand, the result is similar: it is in the lead with a two-fold margin:
- Toyota – sold 319 thousand cars
- Isuzu – 171 thousand cars
Indonesia
The situation is similar in Indonesia:
- Toyota – sold 331 thousand cars
- Daihatsu – 177 thousand cars
Philippines
In the Philippines, Toyota rules the roost by an even larger margin, almost 2.5 times:
- Toyota – sold 161 thousand cars
- Mitsubishi — 65 тыс.
Vietnam
In Vietnam, the advantage of Toyota is not as impressive as in the Philippines, Indonesia or Thailand, but, nevertheless, the South Korean KIA still has to work and work before such results.
- Toyota – sold 79 thousand cars,
- KIA – 41 thousand.
Saudi Arabia
In Saudi Arabia, another South Korean company, Hyundai, is catching up with Toyota. Catches up, catches up, but can not catch up.?
- Toyota – sold 60 thousand copies
- Hyundai – 56 thousand.
Taiwan
In China, Toyota is not in the first place, but in Taiwan everything is different:
- Toyota – sold 64 thousand cars
- Mitsubishi — 47 тыс.
United Arab Emirates
If you think that everyone in the Emirates drives only Ferraris and Lamborghinis, then you are wrong.?
- Toyota – sold 33 thousand cars
- Nissan – 21 thousand.
Singapore
And in this relatively small country, Toyota occupies the first position, and very confidently:
- Toyota – sold 19 thousand cars
- Honda – 15 thousand.
In 9 out of 19 countries in Asia, Toyota leads in new car sales, including 4 of them by a huge margin
Well, according to these statistics, it is clearly seen that Asian companies from Japan and South Korea are fighting for leadership in Asia.
Australia and Oceania
In this region, statistics are available for two countries (and it seems that there are no others there).
In both countries of the Australian region, Toyota has a strong lead
Australia
Look at the advantage with which Toyota broke away from Mazda here:
- Toyota – sold 205 thousand cars
- Mazda – 97 thousand.
New Zealand
Again, more than a two-fold advantage of Toyota. And, by the way, that rare case when an American brand entered the top two:
- Toyota – sold 30 thousand cars
- Ford – 14 thousand.
Africa
From Australia we move to Africa. There are many countries, but official statistics are available only for two of them: South Africa and Egypt. Honestly, I don't know: are there official dealers of car brands in other countries? If you have information about this, be sure to write in the comments.
In Egypt, Toyota loses to Chevrolet. But in South Africa everything is fine.
South Africa
- Toyota – sold 126 thousand cars
- VW – 80 thousand.
In Africa, Toyota leads in one country out of two: South Africa
Europe
In the European market, statistics speak of 27 countries. And, it would seem, where is Japan and where is Europe? But even here Toyota managed to take the lead in 3 regions.
Finland
In Finland, the advantage of Toyota is not very obvious, the difference with the results of Volkswagen sales is not very big, but technically Toyota is in the lead.
- Toyota – sold 16 thousand cars
- VW – 15 thousand.
Greece
In Greece, the French brand Peugeot competes with Toyota:
- Toyota – sold 13 thousand cars
- Peugeot – 10 thousand.
Estonia
In Estonia, the Czech Skoda competes with Toyota:
- Toyota – sold 4 thousand cars
- Skoda – 3 thousand.
If we talk about recently, then we have Toyota occupies the 5th position in the final sales ranking, skipping ahead such brands as VW, Renault, Hyundai, KIA and, of course, Lada.
Toyota “occupied” 3 European countries: Finland, Greece and Estonia
North America
In none of the 3 countries of North America – the USA, Canada and Mexico – Toyota managed to become a leader
In the United States, Toyota confidently occupies the second position, after Ford, with a result of 2 million cars. An impressive number, isn't it?
In Canada, the situation is very similar: also the second result after Ford.
But in Mexico, Toyota loses to Nissan, Chevrolet, Volkswagen and takes only the 4th position.
South America
In South America, new car sales statistics are available for 5 countries: Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Uruguay.
Toyota's best result is in Argentina. There it takes the second place, after Volkswagen, with the result of 64 thousand cars (VW has 69 thousand).
In the rest of the region, Toyota is even lower.
In South America, Toyota is not in the lead
——-
As you can see, Toyota sales around the world are very impressive. Excellent results in the Asian and Australian regions, in Africa are very good, in Europe we also managed to win in several countries, albeit not the largest ones.
It is not possible to achieve leadership only in America. Although, this, of course, depending on what to compare.
After all, for example, in the US only Toyota sold 2 million cars last year, and recently all brands – 1.7 million. As they say, feel the difference.
Of course, Toyota's sales results cannot fail to impress. If this brand is loved in so many countries, then its cars have some recipe for success.
