BMW X7 pickup 2020 – BMW pickup… this is not a dream
The new BMW X7 pickup (BMW X7 Pickup) is officially presented on June 5, 2019, at the BMW Motorrad Days corporate event, and, possibly, will be put into mass production in 2020. In the review of the BMW X7 pickup 2019-2020 – news, photos, price and specifications of the predecessor of the first BMW model year.
My opinion and review of the BMW X7 pickup can be read and written here.
The new BMW X7 is a unique baler created by the efforts of the students of the Bavarian automotive giant under the wing of the assembly plant of the concept of car design and model technology in a single copy. But at least. The BMW pickup truck brought to the BMW Motorrad days in the company of a BMW F 850 GS cross-country motorcycle, located on a 2-meter loading platform of the new BMW truck, built on the basis of the large BMW X7 crossover.
While BMW AG does not disclose plans for mass production and the cost of new items, but if the BMW X7 SUV is produced, the price will apparently be 70-73 thousand dollars.
The show car BMW X7 pickup is based on the BMW X7 xDrive40i model and is equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine (340 hp 450 Nm) in the company with an 8 Steptronic automatic transmission and all-wheel drive transmission. Interestingly, the first pickup truck developed by BMW in just 9 months, twelve trainees of the German company with the support of the experts of the concept of the car, Model and construction technology (BMW AG factory department). Thus, the result of the work of young specialists, to put it mildly, surprises and impresses. The first BMW pickup turned out just gorgeous, stylish and even original.
BMW X7 pickup truck with a five-seater saloon, the original aft and cargo compartment is paneled with natural wood. The BMW pickup truck turned out to be 100 mm longer (approximately 5250 mm) than the original BMW X7 crossover model, but weighs less than 200 kg and has a correspondingly larger capacity. The secret is that the developers have completely changed the back of the body of the donor model and use lightweight carbon fiber for the manufacture of the roof panel, tailgate and side cargo compartment.
Cargo platform and rear wall interior with natural wood finish, complete with carbon inserts. The length of the cargo platform is 1400 mm, and when the rear wall is opened, the length of the cargo platform increases to 2000 mm, so the cross-country bike fits easily in the back of the Bavarian pickup.
It only remains to add that Klaus Frolich, who heads the BMW development department, hinted last fall that the company plans to produce pickups… and here we have the BMW X7 pickup. It seems that the Germans are probing the market, and the Mercedes pickup will not live up to the Bavarians. Therefore, with a high probability we can say that the BMW pickup will become a reality.
