Ford prepares for the presentation of the new Ranger: the pickup will debut in a few weeks

The novelty of the American brand will be global: the truck will go to the markets of 180 countries of the world. In the US, sales will begin next year.

Pickups remain one of the strengths of the Ford brand. If only because the F-series full-size truck has been the leader of the domestic market for many years. However, the brand also has other models, including the Ranger. Note that during covid 2020, dealers sold 101,486 units in the US, up 13.3% from the previous year. In the nine months of 2021, buyers purchased 72,706 pickups (2.2% less than in January-September 2020).

it is possible that the current decline is due to the fact that fans of the model are waiting for the next generation Ford Ranger to enter the market. As it became known today, the presentation of new items will take place in the near future, on November 24. Sales in the US will start next year, in total, the novelty will enter the markets of 180 countries. A teaser was attached to the announcement of the debut date, even if it cannot be called particularly informative: only the embossed hood and LED cylinder head optics with C-shaped daytime running lights stand out. The rest of the details are hidden in the shadows and hidden behind the splashes.

The development of the new generation Ranger was entrusted to Ford Australia. We remind you that the project is being implemented as part of a partnership agreement with Volkswagen. So the American pickup truck will have a “twin” produced under the German brand – the next generation VW Amarok.

As we reported earlier, the lines of the future truck will contain the characteristics of the “big brother” – the Ford F-150 (the model changed generation last year), in particular, we are talking about optics. The stern has also been fitted with new LED lights and running boards in the bumper. The overall proportions of the pickup during the generation change remained about the same. The salon will obviously be completely different.

New generation Ford Ranger teaser

The company has not yet disclosed official information about the new Ranger technology. According to preliminary data, the next generation pickup truck will be equipped with a petrol V6 and a diesel “turbo engine“. In addition, the lineup is likely to include a plug-in hybrid version based on a 2.3-liter quattro turbocharged petrol engine. It is possible that a 2.0-liter turbo engine (from the “junior” Ford Maverick pickup truck) will be installed on the initial versions. Presumably, the American version of the new Ranger will receive a different “stuffing”, possibly unified with the Ford Bronco SUV.

Note that the current pickup truck in the US is offered with a 2.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 270 horsepower. In Europe, the truck can be purchased with 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesels with 130, 170 and 213 hp. In Australia, in addition to the 213-horsepower 2.0-liter engine, the engine range includes 2.2 and 3.2-liter diesel engines that produce 160 and 200 hp respectively.

The new generation Ford Ranger and VW Amarok for Europe will be produced at the Ford plant in Pretoria (South Africa). The assembly of the American version of the truck will begin later at the Wayne Ford plant (USA, Michigan), but Amarok in the US should not be expected. But it is possible that the next Volkswagen pickup will enter the Russian market, unlike the Ford Ranger.
