Nissan has announced a new model: it may be related to Renault Kangoo and Mercedes Citan

The novelty of the Japanese brand is addressed primarily to Europeans. The world premiere of the model will take place in a week, and it will probably reach dealers at the end of this – the beginning of next year.

Nissan Europe has published teasers of a new light commercial vehicle (Light Commercial Vehicles, LCV), and this is definitely an electric car: it will be presented on September 9, World EV Day. Yes, now there is such a holiday, it was established last year. Nissan did not provide any other details about the upcoming premiere. But in February 2021, the company announced that it intends to sell in Europe a model based on the new Renault Kangoo, and the latter will also have an electric version. That is, there is a high probability that in a few days we will meet with an analogue of the “Frenchman”. Finally, teaser pictures and videos – the files themselves – are signed as XFK, and such an internal designation, according to some “old-world” media, is just a Renault model.

Recall that in the current “old-world” range of Nissan there is a clone of the former Kangoo: the model is called NV250, and it appeared only two years ago. But such a van did not gain success, so it is quite possible that a fresh car will be given a different name.

The new Renault Kangoo was fully revealed last spring, it comes in the form of a van and a passenger van. The cars entered the “old-world” market in the summer of 2021, but so far only versions with internal combustion engines have been offered to customers: the electric version is only highlighted, it will start in 2022. By the way, the “Frenchman” has another relative – the Mercedes-Benz Citan, the “German” of the second generation debuted at the end of August. Citan differed from the original in design, Nissan can do the same with its model, although the NV250 almost completely repeated the donor – only the radiator grille was replaced.

“Green” Kangoo and Citan are promised a 102-horsepower electric motor and a battery with a capacity of 44 kWh – the same stuffing, obviously, will be in Nissan. The “traditional” versions of the model of the Japanese brand will also be, such cars are equipped with a 1.3 petrol turbo engine and a 1.5 turbodiesel. The drive of all brothers is only front.

In Europe, sales of the Nissan novelty may start at the end of this or early next year, but we are talking about cars with internal combustion engines: an electric version, along with similar Kangoo and Citan, is expected in mid-2022.

The production of Kangoo and Citan has been established at the Renault plant in the French city of Maubeuge, the Nissan NV250 was also produced there, and the new model of the Japanese brand will be “registered” there.

Meanwhile, there is still another version of what will be shown on September 9: it is possible that it will not be an analogue of the last Renault van at all, but the next Nissan e-NV200. But there are no details about the new “two hundred” at the moment.
