Waiting for a new era for smart: the first image of the next generation of forfour
According to preliminary data, the compact electric car that changed the generation will appear in 2024.
Small city cars smart fortwo and forfour of the current generation were introduced in 2014, in 2019 they were updated. In the spring of the same year, it became known that the next generation models would be developed by the Chinese holding company Geely and would be produced only in China. Right now, next-generation cars that will only get a green fill appear to be in the works.

It should be noted that during the “COVID” 2020, the results of smart sales in Europe decreased significantly: in total, dealers sold only 27,218 units, which is 76.2% less than a year earlier. For comparison, in the peak year of 2019 of the last decade, buyers of the Old World market bought 114,504 copies. Last year, sales figures increased: in January-November, 34,125 smart models were sold. (51.7% more than in 11 months of the previous year).
A new era for smartphones is expected to start next year: therefore, at the end of 2022, the brand is likely to introduce a compact electric urban crossover (presumably it will enter the B-segment). It will most likely hit the market in 2023. And in 2024, a new generation of smart forfurs may appear on sale.
There is no official information about the appearance of a new generation of smart forfour city cars of the new generation yet. Smart forfour next generation rendering
The next smart forfour, like the SUV, will enter the B segment. Judging by the render, the model can borrow a lot from the smart #1 concept, presented last fall. The model will likely have a steeply sloping windshield line, a so-called “floating roof”, similar in shape to LED headlights, while the headlights can also be connected by a light strip across the entire width of the front.

Of course, there will be no traditional radiator grille, since it is, in fact, a separate element in the form of a cap. A large air intake is built into the lower part of the front bumper. Flush door handles are visible on the side wall, as well as “regular” door mirrors on the door panels. The stern is not visible, but she, too, should receive an elegant #1 show car. one.
According to preliminary data, the smart novelty will be based on the SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform developed by the Geely holding. The length of the “five-door” is likely to be a little more than four meters. Perhaps the model is equipped with only one electric motor located on the rear axle; there are several recoil options, a more powerful version will have 204 hp. In addition, the city car is likely to receive a 66.5 kWh battery, and its maximum range will be 430 km (the cycle for which the calculation was made is not specified).
