“Another” SUV VW T-Cross went to explore new markets
Deliveries of an Indian-made crossover have begun. According to preliminary data, in some places such an SUV will replace the model of the Brazilian assembly, that is, someone will get cars with a different filler.
Last fall, the Volkswagen Taigun compact SUV went on sale in India. Buyers are offered locally produced vehicles, with the German brand's model produced in the same plant as the related Skoda Kushaq SUV. Both SUVs are built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which was created specifically for India and is a stripped-down version of the global MQB station wagon. This country is a priority for Taigun and Kushaq, but Skoda (it is she who is responsible for the activities of the entire Volkswagen Group in India) initially announced plans to supply cars for export. Well, the VW SUV is the first to conquer new markets.

Crosses of the Indian assembly are now available in Indonesia, but the Taigun has a different name there – T-Cross, and this name can be considered native to the model. The thing is that the Indian SUV is, in fact, a “rethought” Chinese Volkswagen T-Cross (it is made on the original MQB platform).
VW T-Cross is offered to Indonesians with one engine – a 1.0 TSI (115 hp) petrol “turbo four”, which is combined exclusively with a six-speed “automatic”. In India, a liter engine can also be combined with a 6MKP, in addition, Taigun can still be bought there with a 150-horsepower 1.5 TSI Evo “turbo-four” (“mechanics” or a seven-speed DSG). In principle, all-wheel drive is not provided, only the front.

The list of equipment for the export version is generally identical to that of the Indian model. The crossover has: LED optics, “leather” interior, ventilation of the front seats, a virtual “tidy”, a multimedia system with a 10-inch touch screen, a rear view camera, climate control, wireless charging for smartphones, six airbags and cruise control
It is expected that the next country where the Indian-made SUV will appear will be Mexico, where it will also be sold under the name T-Cross. But if for Indonesia the whole country is an absolute novelty, then the Volkswagen T-Cross is already present in the Mexican market: today there are Brazilian-assembled cars based on the original MQB “car”.

A change in the supplier plant also means a change in design, because the Latin American SUV looks different. The technique will also turn out to be different: in Mexico, a Brazilian-made crossover with an “atmospheric” 1.6 with a capacity of 110 hp is presented. (5MKP or 6AKP).
