Honda passport 2019 – a shortened version of the Honda Pilot
The new Honda Passport is officially unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 27, 2018. Honda Passport Review 2019-2020 – news, photos and videos, price and full specifications of the new 5-seat crossover, Honda Passport, which is, in fact, a reduced version of the experimental Honda model. The passport is intended for the North American market (USA and Canada). The production of the new Honda Passport crossover has already begun at the plant of the Japanese company Honda in Alabama, where the Honda Pilot is also assembled.
Sales of Honda Passport in the US market will start in early 2019. The price of the novelty has not yet been announced by the manufacturer, but according to preliminary information, it will range from 29,000-30,000 dollars.
I want to remind our readers that in the Honda model line there was already a car with the name of the passport issued from 1993 to 2002. That's just not a crossover, but a real SUV, created on the basis of the Isuzu Rodeo model (the European analogue of the Opel Frontera). So after 16 years in the US market, the model returns the passport.
The real SUV of the era seems to be coming to an end, and at the moment only crossovers are in the modern Honda lineup: Honda XP-V, Honda SG-V, Honda Passport, Honda Pilot. What can I say, a Honda Ridgeline pickup truck – and one with a monocoque body.
As noted at the beginning of our review, the Honda Passport is a reduced version of the Honda Pilot with a 5-seat cabin and a cropped stern. So we can safely consider the new 5-seater Honda pilot, but the marketers of the Japanese company decided to give the car the name passport. The rest of the crossovers are twin brothers, ranging from the exterior and interior to technology… almost, but the differences between the models are present, but minimal.
The dimensions of the wheelbase, 2820 mm are the same, but the length of the passport (total body length: 4839 mm) is 115 mm smaller than the pilot (body length 4954 mm). While crossovers, even the side doors are the same size and body structure differs only in the rear.
Crossover Honda Passport is positioned as a real SUV, capable of storming serious off-road. Perhaps for this reason, the novelty is equipped with a more brutal bumper protection from Nekrutenko plastic, an original false radiator grille, large plastic lining on the edges of the wheel arches and large 20-inch rims are already in the basic configuration. Add to the Arsenal increased ground clearance compared to the pilot 13 mm front-wheel drive version, and 28 mm for the crossover with all-wheel drive transmission i-VTM4. In the end, this is a great SUV. After all, the Honda Pilot is somehow hard to imagine an SUV.
Concluding the story about the appearance of the new Honda Passport model 2019 crossover, I would like to add that the car has LED headlights, 20-inch rims, original rear LED marker lights as standard.
To find the differences between the inside of the Passport Honda and the Honda Pilot, but only if you look in the trunk of the car, the rest of the interiors are identical, right down to the rear of the second-row seatbacks. The third row of seats for the Honda Passport was not even offered as an option, so the new crossover is the default 5-seater. The trunk volume of the new model is 1167 liters, slightly less than the useful volume of the pilot's trunk from 1325 liters, with the third row backrests folded down.
Passport comes as standard with Honda's comprehensive security sensing system, full LED lighting system, smart start and smart mirrors, three-zone climate control, an 8-inch color touch-screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
