In Canoo, decide on the sites for the production of cars: it was decided to abandon Europe
The American startup will manufacture its electric vehicles only in the US, with factories in Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Canoo is one of many American electric vehicle startups already in existence. The company was founded in 2017, the release of its developments has not yet begun, but several models have already been presented earlier. Three future novelties – a minivan, a van and a pickup truck – are made in the same and, as we have already reported, a very unusual style.

So, in the portfolio of Canoo there is an aerodynamic minivan LV (Lifestyle Vehicle) in different versions: passenger, cargo and the so-called “adventure” (you can say off-road). The second future model of the American brand is the MPDV (Multi-Purpose Delivery Vehicle) commercial van with slightly angular shapes. The third car is a niche pickup truck with a sliding body (not yet given a separate name). In addition, last summer on the roads, he probably captured a prototype of the future sports car of this brand (in foreign media it was called a sedan, although it is a “monocab”).
All previous Canoo models are built on a modular skateboard platform and feature cable steering for maximum front end performance. The design is similar not only to the exterior style, but also to the end windows, as if borrowed from buses of the 1960s.

Earlier it was reported that the electric vehicle start-up decided on production sites, and one of them was to be the European plant VDL Nedcar (Netherlands). It is assumed that the meeting will be held on a contractual basis. The production of a thousand experimental cars was supposed to begin at the end of 2022, and by 2023 the volume was promised to grow to 15 thousand units.
However, earlier this month it was reported that the company had apparently changed its mind about the VDL Nedcar plant. So, in Canoo's US stock exchange reporting, the Dutch market was no longer listed at that time. Now the startup has officially confirmed that it intends to produce its electric vehicles only in the United States, however, at two companies.

The plant will appear at the MidAmerica Industrial Park in Oklahoma, with a launch scheduled for late 2023. Even earlier, in 2022, Canoo's electric vehicle production is expected to begin at a second US plant to open in Arkansas. As a result, the company increased the plan for the next year: from 3,000 to 6,000 vehicles (instead of the previous 500 – 1,000 units). In 2023, Canoo will produce 14-17 thousand electric vehicles, in 2024 this figure will grow to 40-50 thousand units, and in 2025, according to plans, up to 70-80 thousand units.
As the company explained, moving production to the United States “will reduce the vulnerability of the supply chain”, in addition, it will increase the speed of delivering cars to customers (probably this is the domestic market), and also This decision will help increase the number of jobs in local factories and reduce various costs.
