Toyota Belta sedan showed up in new photos: it’s a competitor to Solaris, and it’s made from Suzuki

A full presentation of Toyota's “four-door” is expected to be held in the near future. From the source in the face of Suzuki Ciaz, this car differs only in emblems.

A couple of weeks ago, it became known that production of a new Toyota model had begun in India: a spy “fragmentary” photo proclaimed this. Although the car was not entirely filmed, it was easily recognizable as a Suzuki Ciaz sedan 4.5 meters long (more precisely, Maruti Suzuki; Maruti is the Indian “daughter” of the Japanese company). Now, new footage has arrived from India, they were published on the forum of the local publication Team-BHP. It is alleged that the photographs were taken in the port, that is, the cars are being prepared for export, and the steering wheel is allegedly on the left, although you cannot make out the pictures of poor quality. And the name of the “four-door” Toyota – Belta was also confirmed (as the analogue of the former Toyota Vios / Yaris was once called).

Recall that Toyota and Suzuki announced a new stage of their partnership, which, in particular, provides for the exchange of models two years ago. In addition to the Ciaz, four more cars changed their emblems: in India, under the Toyota brand, the Glanza hatchback and the Urban Cruiser SUV are presented (they are still available in Africa, but the hatchback is called Starlet there), that is, Suzuki Baleno and Vitara Brezza, respectively, and in Europe under the Suzuki brand sell Across hybrid crossover and Swace station wagon – converted RAV4 and Corolla.

Toyota did minimal work on the appearance of the Glanza hatch (they replaced the radiator grille), the Urban Cruiser SUV still flaunts a retouched front bumper, in addition, it has foglights designed differently. But with the design of the sedan, apparently, they decided not to bother at all: Belta completely repeats Ciaz, they changed only the emblem and nameplates. There is no photo of the interior yet, but it is probably the same as the Suzuki model.

The Toyota sedan also most likely shared the technology with Ciaz: this is a K15B 1.5 gasoline four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 105 hp. paired with a starter-generator, which stores energy during braking. Boxes – a five-speed “mechanics” or a four-speed “automatic”.

The five-door Toyota Glanza and the Urban Cruiser crossover are offered only in expensive trim levels, and the company can do the same with a sedan. That is, Belta will have LED optics, 16-inch wheels, cruise control, a multimedia system and a rear-view camera in its arsenal.

The four-door Toyota should celebrate the premiere in the near future. In the Indian market, Belta will compete not only with the donor Suzuki Ciaz, but also with Hyundai Verna – this is the name of the model we know as Solaris.
