Updated Porsche Cayenne Coupe: kupeobrazny crossover appeared almost without camouflage

The novelty of the German brand was caught in the frame during road tests. The car will likely reach dealers in Europe in the first half of 2022.

Porsche has been producing the mid-size Cayenne crossover since 2003; over the years, the model has changed generations several times. The current, third, appeared in 2018. Sales of the model in the old-world market declined during the COVID-19 2020, with a total of 18,330 cars purchased by customers, down 8.8% from a year earlier, according to Carsalesbase. This year, there is still a negative trend: in January-August (more recent data is not yet available), 10,389 units were sold, which is almost 14% less than in the first eight months of 2020.

Restyling is likely to return the former popularity of the model: soon the German company intends to present updated versions of both the regular Cayenne and the coupe-like version of the crossover. There is no information on the presentation date yet, but it is expected that the new items will reach dealers in the first half of 2022.

Apparently, the project to develop the updated Porsche Cayenne Coupe is at the final stage: on the roads in southern Europe, during the tests, a prototype of the novelty was caught with little or no disguise. The pictures were shared with us by the Spanish edition of motor.es.

At first glance, it seems as if the car in the frame has no disguise at all: indeed, most of the exterior is completely visible. However, in fact, camouflage is present on the front. It is expected that there will be no cardinal changes in the appearance of the model, except that the design will be “tailored” to the new style of the brand. The stern of the “refreshed” Cayenne Coupe will practically not change: the taillights will retain their shape, but they will slightly tweak the “stuffing”.

The interior of the updated Cayenne Coupe will be the same as that of the “regular” crossover. It is probably worth waiting for new color options and other materials for interior trim. In addition, as part of the restyling, Porsche intends to seriously update the list of equipment, adding new features that are responsible for comfort and safety.

Surprises in terms of technology are not expected: the “stuffing” of the coupe-like and “ordinary” crossovers will be the same and, most likely, the same as that of current cars. That is, the updated Porsche Cayenne will receive a line of gasoline engines with a volume of 3.0 and 4.0 liters, and in addition, a couple of rechargeable hybrids will remain in the line. They will only be paired with an automatic transmission.

It should be noted that recently “just” Cayenne has been more popular: in the first half of this year, dealers ? sold 1073 units (19% more than in January-June 2020), while Cayenne Coupe accounted for 701 copies (9 .4% more). The price of a “regular” crossover in our market starts at 6.28 million conventional units, and a coupe-like version can be bought for at least 7.24 million conventional units.
