The new Mercedes 2020, the new crossover Mercedes-Benz GLB (MLB Mercedes) is officially presented on June 10, 2019, just two months after the premiere of the Mercedes-Benz GLB prototype car at the Shanghai Auto Show. Review of the Mercedes-Benz GLB 2019-2020 – news, photos and videos, price and full technical specifications of the new Mercedes compact crossover, located in the German brand’s model line among the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Mercedes-Benz SUVs in the GLC.
Sales of the new Mercedes-Benz GLB crossover on the global market will begin towards the end of 2019, after the world premiere of the Mercedes GLB at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Pricethe new model, according to preliminary information, will be 38,000 euros for the basic version of Mercedes-Benz with a GLB 200 with a 1.3-liter 163-horsepower gasoline engine, a 7G-DCT automatic transmission with a gearbox and front-wheel drive. The production of the new crossover of the German company Mercedes has already begun at the Compass plant in Mexico and at the Beijing Benz plant in China.
I hasten to note the key features of the new Mercedes-Benz GLB compact crossover.
Firstly, the novelty, with the light hand of the designers of the German brand, received an appearance in the style of a large Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV. And secondly, the new compact crossover, despite its modest 4634 mm in length, is offered with an optional third row of seats (7-seater).
With the interior of the new crossover, let’s start our story on the Mercedes-Benz GLB. The standard interior is 5-seater with comfortable seats for driver and front passenger and a cozy second row of seats (separate 60:40 split cushions, separate 40:20:40 reclining back and 7 fixed positions). For an additional fee, longitudinal adjustment of the second row of seats is offered, which allows you to move the rear seats along the cabin by 140 mm and the folding backrest of the front passenger seat, falling forward. The volume of the luggage compartment of the 5-seater version of the Mercedes GLB can be made from 560 liters under the protective curtain of the trunk, up to 1755 liters, provided that the back of the second row of seats is folded down and loaded under the ceiling.
Two additional seats in the third row, we offer as an option to make the Mercedes-Benz GLB 7-seater, but with one caveat. The gallery can comfortably accommodate passengers with a height of less than 168 cm (in a word, for children). However, as a bonus, Isofix mounts are provided for the third-row seat. For the 7-seater version, the useful volume of the luggage compartment is not reported. In the standard position of the third-row back, the trunk will take at best a couple of sports bags.
Otherwise, the interior of the new Mercedes GLB crossover shows familiar architecture, equipment and finishing materials well known in the modern version of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Mercedes-Benz B-Class and Mercedes-Benz KLK. Thus, buyers of the new compact crossover will receive a stylish, modern and high-quality interior with a virtual dashboard, a Mercedes user experience multimedia system (MBUX), aviation-style ventilation vents, comfortable front-row seats and weighing equipment, available at an additional cost. Driver and front passenger seats are electrically adjustable and have a toning massager, LED backlighting, matrix multi-beam LED headlights, adaptive cruise control and a host of other options.
The external dimensions of the Mercedes-Benz GLB 2019-2020 body are 4634 mm long, 1834 mm wide, 1658 mm high, with a 2829 mm wheelbase.
Again, outwardly, the Mercedes-Benz GLB is very similar to the flagship of the crossover line of the German company Mercedes-Benz GLS. Despite the modest overall dimensions of the body of the new crossover, it looks solid and respectable. Mercedes GLB every detail hints that the body can move not only on asphalt but also on rough terrain, and will take you to the remote corners of nature in a group of 7 people.
Specifications Mercedes-Benz GLB 2019-2020.
The new Mercedes GLB crossover is built on the same MFA front-wheel drive platform and transverse engine under the hood of a new generation of A-class, B-class, CLA and GLA models. However, only fully independent suspension of all wheels is available (McPherson strut front, multi-link rear), even in the basic version, the new front-wheel drive.
Optionally with the 4Matic all-wheel drive system, an all-wheel drive transmission with a multi-plate clutch that connects the rear wheels, even in simple ECO and comfort modes, passes up to 20% of the torque to the rear axle. When ordering the off-road package, the new Mercedes-Benz GLB compact crossover is a real off-roader, and is able to attack serious off-road thanks to special off-road settings, electronics and the availability of systems that make it easier to drive on rough terrain (assists when descending a hill and start to slide).
From the start of sales of the new German crossover Mercedes GLB will be offered to customers in four versions, with two turbocharged petrol engines and two turbodiesels.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB 200 is equipped with a petrol (282 m) 1.3-liter turbocharged engine (163 hp, 250 Nm) paired with a 7G-DCT automatic transmission with a gearbox that transmits traction to the front wheels.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB is equipped with a 250 petrol with 4Matic all-wheel drive (model M 260) 2.0-liter turbocharged engine (224 hp 350 Nm) in company with 8G-DCT and all-wheel drive.
Mercedes-Benz 200 D with 2.0-litre (OM 654q) turbo diesel (150 hp) and 8G-DCT.
Mercedes-Benz 220 d with 2.0-liter (OM 654q) turbodiesel (190 hp) and 8G-DCT.
Later, a powerful AMG version of the novelty is expected, one of which will be the 306 horsepower Mercedes-Benz AMG CLB35 4Matic all-wheel drive.
