The new Logan station wagon has turned into a Jogger – a cross-version with a more powerful motor
The novelty will be offered with a five- or seven-seater interior, gasoline or bi-fuel engines. And later the model will also have a hybrid version.
The Logan sedan and the Sandero hatchback of the Romanian brand Dacia (owned by Renault) moved into the third generation last year, and finally, the turn of the new Logan station wagon has come. True, now the “five-door” is considered a separate model with the name Jogger. As previously told in Dacia, the choice fell on this name because of its simplicity, besides, the “er” suffix makes the station wagon related to the Duster crossover. Today we held an online presentation, and the public premiere will take place on September 6 at the Munich Motor Show (the exhibition moved there from Frankfurt).
Dacia Jogger is a high-capacity wagon with a high roof, that is, it was made in the style of the first generation Logan MCV, which became a donor for our Lada Largus. Recall that the “second” Logan MCV was an ordinary “barn” with a distance between the axles and a two-row saloon that was almost the same as the then sedan. Jogger, like the very first model, differed from the current original “four-door” in dimensions, in addition, it will be offered in a five- or seven-seater version. And the new Dacia station wagon by default has an “off-road” body kit – without the “surname” Stepway (the second generation model was in the form of a standard station wagon or “crossover”).
The length of the Jogger is 4547 mm (by the way, this is the longest model in the current Dacia range), the width is 1784 mm, the height is 1632 mm, the wheelbase is 2897 mm. Claimed ground clearance – 200 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of our standard Largus: 4488/1735/1628 mm, the distance between the axles is 2905 mm, the ground clearance is 172 mm (Largus Cross is slightly longer and wider, and the ground clearance of this version is the same 200 mm as that of the Jogger). Well, the length of the last Logan sedan is 4396 mm, the wheelbase is 2649 mm.
The headlights of the Dacia Jogger are the same as those of the so-platform state employees (the whole family is based on the CMF-B “trolley”), the front bumper is from Sandero Stepway. The lanterns are original, they are pulled up, and the model also got a lifting luggage door (the “second” Logan MCV had this, while the Logan MCV of the first generation – and the current Largus – had hinged doors). The rear doors have higher openings than the front ones, plus the seven-seater version has folding “windows” at the back. Roof-mounted roof rails have built-in crossbars that fold out effortlessly (load capacity 80 kg).
At the start of sales, a special version of Extreme will be available (which is what is captured on most branded photos), its features are black wheels, a fin antenna and exterior mirror housings, name stickers on the body and red stitching in the cabin.
Except for the seats, inside Jogger repeated his relatives. The second row seats are installed 55 mm higher than the front ones, in the seven-seater version of the third row seat – 25 mm higher than the second. The trunk volume of the five-seater Jogger is 708 liters, with the second-row seatbacks folded down, this figure increases to 1819 liters. The trunk volume of the seven-seater station wagon is 160 liters, with the third row folded down – 565 liters. Like the Logan / Sandero, the base car also has no “music”, but there is a mount for a smartphone: by downloading a special application, the phone can be used as a multimedia system. And expensive versions are supposed to have a full 8-inch touchscreen. Also on the list of equipment are six airbags, heated seats, climate control, a rear-view camera, a monitoring system for “blind” zones, and an engine start button.
In Europe, the station wagon will be available with a 1.0 TCe petrol engine with 110 hp and a maximum torque of 200 Nm. Note that on a sedan and hatchback, this engine produces 90 hp. and 160 Nm. The Jogger will also be offered with a 1.0 Eco-G dual-fuel engine (gasoline and propane) with a capacity of 100 hp. (170 Nm). Jogger has only one box so far – a six-speed “mechanics”, while related Logan and Sandero can still be equipped with a CVT.
And in 2023, the station wagon will become a hybrid: such a Jogger will have an E-Tech installation from the parent company Renault – with a 1.6 “aspirated” engine, an electric motor and a starter-generator.
In the Old World, orders for the Jogger will open in November, the start of “live” sales is scheduled for early next year. Prices have not yet been announced. The Dacia station wagon will also reach Turkey and Israel. Whether a similar model will appear under the Renault brand is still unknown. Theoretically, Jogger could transform into the next Largus, but in any case, this is not a matter for the near future, because AVTOVAZ has only recently updated its station wagon.
