Cadillac Escalade 2021: luxury in the fifth generation

Luxury brand Cadillac has unveiled its reborn flagship, the fifth-generation Escalade. The luxury SUV has become even more impressive, more spacious, more comfortable, but, most importantly, even more perfect. The innovations from Cadillac with which the Escalade 2021 shines are at the level of industry revolutionism. Let's start with them.

MOST BRIGHT

The most striking innovation is the curved 38-inch three-screen organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display. This is the latest technology in the automotive world to provide enhanced image clarity and color. From left to right are the system touch control panel (7.2 inches, to the left of the steering wheel), digital dashboard (14.2 inches), multimedia screen (16.9 inches).

In addition to the wide boundaries of visualization, the revolutionary system has extended functionality. Navigation on the dashboard is drawn not with an abstract map, but with a real display of space with pointing arrows. Moreover, the voice prompt also acquired a certain spatiality: the voice is heard closer or farther (quieter or louder) depending on the distance before the start of the maneuver, to the left or to the right, depending on the upcoming change of direction.

All-round cameras form a megapixel image around the car space (top view). The night vision system, operating in the infrared spectrum, displays the detected living objects in the direction of movement.

But even with such a breadth of possibilities, the visual information of the inhabitants of the interior of the new Escalade is not limited to the OLED panel alone. The rear-view mirror feeds back camera video, and passengers have their own 12.6-inch touchscreens that they can even use to correct their route.

MOST USEFUL

The fifth generation Escalade features the innovative Super Cruise driver assistance system. This is the latest cruise control, which, in addition to standard functions, can automatically change lanes at the command of the turn signal lever – it turns the steering wheel itself, maintaining a given speed and distance.

In addition, the system has been enriched with an automatic lane shift function that selects the safest position depending on the distance to neighboring cars.

THE LOUDEST

Especially for Cadillac, renowned sound brand AKG has developed an immersive AKG Studio Reference system. 28-channel amplifiers, 36 thoughtfully placed speakers (including those in the ceiling) provide a spacious, clean, pristine delicious sound.

But this is an option. The base also includes an AKG Studio system exclusive to the automotive world: 19 speakers and a subwoofer.

MOST NOTABLE

The new Escalade has become even larger – it has grown in length, base and volume. He became even more solid in appearance, but also retained recognition. Including thanks to the branded “vertical” optics, despite the fact that the “face” of the model has acquired horizontal headlights. Lanterns are executed in a three-dimensional concept.

For the first time, the model also had a sports version of the exterior with a black body decor and a radiator grille of the same color.

In harmony with the exterior, the interior is luxurious, with handmade elements of the salon. It is a three-row full-size SUV. And the space for third-row passengers is increased by 40%. In millimeters, the increase in space in the knee area is expressed by the number 25 (became 886 mm). Due to the low floor, the distance to the ceiling also increased.

The trunk has become 68% more spacious – 722 liters.

THE MOST TOUCHABLE

The new Escalade has a new multi-link independent rear suspension. With the Magnetic Ride Control (MRC) system for changing the stiffness, which reacts with lightning speed to changing road conditions. So lightning fast that it is considered the fastest in the world.

Optionally available is a new adaptive air suspension, which is also “friends” with the MRC. The pneumatic system automatically maintains optimal ground clearance, forcibly lowers by 51 mm for ease of landing / loading, and rises to overcome off-road.

Also available as an option is the eLSD, an electronic slip-limiting differential that optimizes traction and improves rear axle grip, which is very useful in high-speed maneuvering and on slippery roads.

The 2021 Escalade has a new 6.2-liter V-8 engine with an economy-enhancing cylinder deactivation system. Power 420 l. with. (313 kW), torque 623 Nm. There is a smaller option – a 3-liter turbodiesel with a similar moment, but not the fact that it will be presented recently. The transmission is automatic with a 10-speed electronic box.

Production of the Cadillac Escalade will start in the third quarter of 2020. Many dealers have not yet announced a release date.
