Ford Focus ST 2019 – a new generation
The new Ford Focus ST is officially unveiled on February 18, 2019 ahead of its world premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show. The new Ford Focus ST will go on sale in the European market in the summer of 2019 at a price of 31,500 euros.
The 2019 Ford Focus ST will be available in two body styles (hatchback and station wagon), two four-cylinder turbocharged engines (gasoline and 2.3 EcoBoost with turbo 2.0 diesel EcoBlue), as well as a pair of transmissions – 6 and 7 manual transmission automatic transmission (automatic transmission available only for petrol version). The default drive is on the front wheels.
Visually “charged” Focus ST differs from the usual, civilian version of the new generation Ford Focus sporty and more aggressive appearance. There are original bumpers and door sills, a large spoiler above the glass of the tailgate, a duo of exhaust tips, 18 and 19-inch wheels with original drawings, as well as Michelin Pilot Sport and 4S low-profile tires.
The interior of the Ford Focus ST, of course, also has a number of differences compared to the simple interior of the Ford Focus. The Arsenal Interior St. versions sports a multi-function steering wheel with a plump and undercut rim, a 4.2-inch dashboard information display that can display boost pressure, temperature and oil pressure, Recaro seats for the driver and front passenger with lateral hip and back support, original decor, aluminum pedals.
Modern equipment worth noting is the presence of adaptive cruise control with Stop & GO functions, the system keeps the car in the center of the lane, adaptive LED headlights, the system will help determine the presence of rotation ahead in the direction of travel using the front camera, the head-up display system evasive guiding Assist (assistant to bypass obstacles).
The most important and interesting difference between the “civilian” version of the Ford Focus car and the “charged” Ford Focus ST is in the car's equipment. So, let's move on to the technical specifications of the Ford Focus ST 2019-2020.
For Focus ST offers two new four-cylinder engines.
The first EcoBlue turbodiesel 2.0 engine (190 hp 400 Nm) is equipped with a default 6 manual transmission. The diesel engine of the new Ford Focus ST boasts steel pistons and a variable geometry turbocharger. The transmission is quite modest, and, in addition to the manual transmission, comes only with a wheel braking system (imitation mikolasko lock).
The second turbocharged gasoline engine 2.3 EcoBoost engine (280 hp 420 Nm) is able to work in tandem with 6 manual transmissions and an optional 7 automatic transmission, which, in turn, can adapt to the owner's driving style. With the petrol turbo engine of the new Ford Focus ST, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds.
The diesel versions of the Focus St transmission are much more advanced than the Ford Focus ST with a diesel engine. Available electronically controlled front differentials are elsd differentials from the Borg Warner company, while an optional performance package (launch control and driving track drive for extreme driving) applies adaptive dampers.
The “hot” version of the St. technically differs from the regular model of the new generation Ford Focus not only in powerful engines and advanced transmission. The suspension of the “charged” Ford Focus ST is stiffer (harder springs are used in the front 20%, rear 13%), ground clearance is reduced by 10 mm, steering knuckles with original geometry and steering gear “short” from lock to lock 2 steering wheels are installed, front brake disc diameter 330mm and rear 302mm front brake two piston and one piston rear.
And that is not all. The first Ford Focus St is equipped with a drive mode system that allows you to select the optimal operating modes of the engine and transmission, suspension and steering and stabilization system.
