Renault Duster Oroch pickup: instead of a new generation, there will be a restyling, but with a turbo engine
The appearance of the truck of the French brand will be optimized. The main technical update should be the “turbo four” 1.3.
The current Renault Duster Oroch four-door pickup truck has been in service since 2015, based on the first generation Duster. The truck version is sold in Latin America, production has been established in Brazil, where the original crossover is also produced. Last year, the Brazilian Duster switched to the second generation, which is what was expected from the truck. But then they began to take prototypes on local roads and it became clear that instead of a new generation there would be restyling: the captured Duster Oroch had the same body.
There will be some design changes. Thus, the pickup truck will receive a new grille in the style of the Indian cross Duster (by the way, also in the first generation), plus the front bumper will be retouched. Well, models read other records as well. Inside, they will probably install a more modern multimedia system.

But Renault Duster Oroch is expected to have a turbocharged engine. According to Brazilian publication Motor1, the facelifted pickup will be offered with a 1.3 TCe turbo from the local Renault Captur SUV. We also know this engine: this is how the Russian “second” Duster and Kaptur are equipped. At the same time, in Brazil, the turbo engine “feeds” not only on gasoline, but also on ethanol: on Captur, the engine produces 162 and 170 hp, respectively (? power is 150 hp).

According to Motor1, the 1.3 TCe engine will replace the two-liter “atmospheric” engine (143 hp on petrol and 148 hp on ethanol). But the aspirated 1.6 (118/120 hp) seems to have remained in service. In addition, along with a turbocharged engine, a pickup can still get a CVT, while the pre-reform Duster Oroch is available exclusively with “mechanics” (five-speed for 1.6 and six-speed for 2.0). Note that 1.3 TCe is also promised to the “second” Brazilian crossover Duster, which is presented only with an “aspirated” 1.6 (5MT or CVT).

The current pickup truck in Brazil is only front-wheel drive (like the new Duster crossover), although, for example, in Colombia, a truck with a two-liter engine has 4WD.
The Brazilians write that the premiere of the restyling Renault Duster Oroch will take place in 2022. The new generation is now waiting at the end of 2024 and such a Renault truck will presumably be registered in neighboring Argentina.

Meanwhile, the “second” Duster still has a cargo modification, but with the Dacia brand and only with a two-door body. This pickup is designed for Europe.
