Two new Jeeps, more luxurious and more expensive than ever before
In the United States, the official presentation of the revived luxury SUVs Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer took place. Both cars have become the most luxurious and richly equipped models in the history of the famous overseas company.
Despite the names hinting at different sizes, the dimensions of the Jeep Wagoneer (pictured is red, with an interior painted in different shades of gray) and the Jeep Grand Wagoneer (dark blue, with an interior made in shades of brown) turned out to be exactly the same: length – 5435 mm, width – 2123 mm, height -1920 mm, base – 3124 mm. But the contents of the engine compartments are different.
Under the hood of the Jeep Wagoneer, an MHEV hybrid powertrain is installed, consisting of a 5.7-liter gasoline V8 and a 48-volt starter-generator. The total power is 392 hp and the torque is 548 Nm.
The transmission of the novelty is an 8-band “automatic” and rear-wheel drive, but there are also modifications with a 4×4 wheel formula. Their all-wheel drive system has 3 options.
The base one, called Quadra-Trac I, has a simple front wheel coupling. The middle one, Quadra-Trac II, is additionally equipped with a reduction gear in the transfer case, and the top one, Quadra-Drive II, is also equipped with an electronic rear differential lock.
The Jeep Grand Wagoneer received a 6.4-liter V8 petrol engine that develops 471 hp. and a torque of 617 Nm. Transmission – 8-band “automatic” and all-wheel drive system Quadra-Trac II.
Externally, the Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer, each of which will be offered in 3 trim levels – Series I, Series II and Series III, differ in different bumper designs, the number of chrome decorative elements and the shape of the hoods. Salons of SUVs differ much more significantly.
Their common elements are a 2-spoke steering wheel and horizontal vents, made in the style of the old Jeep Wagoneer. Both cars also received 10.3-inch digital instrument clusters for the Wagoneer and 12.3-inch for the Grand Wagoneer.)
Another common detail is the modern Uconnect 5 multimedia system, but its touchscreen has a diagonal of 10.1 inches for the Jeep Wagoneer and 12 inches for the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The latter also received a McIntosh audio system with 19 speakers with a total power of 950 watts.
The salons of both SUVs are 3-row, but the more luxurious Jeep Grand Wagoneer has a modification with 7, not 8 seats. In this case, in the 2nd row there is a pair of huge chairs with a wide range of electric adjustments and a large “glove compartment” armrest between them.
The next difference between the Jeep Grand Wagoneer is the abundance of decorative elements made of natural veneer and polished aluminum in the cabin. Both models are upholstered in premium Nappa leather.
The chassis of the SUVs is identical: an independent 2-link suspension in front and a “multi-link” in the back. The clearance in this case is 211 mm. For a surcharge, you can order an adaptive Quadra-Lift air suspension, which can increase the ground clearance up to 257 mm.
The Jeep Wagoneer starts at $57,995. This car will compete with full-size SUVs such as the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition and Toyota Sequoia.
The Jeep Grand Wagoneer starts at $86,995 (making it the most expensive production model in Jeep history). He will compete for leadership in the car market with the Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon Denali, Lincoln Navigator and Lexus LX.
Will these new items appear in recent times? The company has not yet announced this, but given the fact that some of their competitors are represented here, it can be assumed that the Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer will fight with them for a portion of hamburgers in our country. And no notorious “luxury tax” will prevent this.
