Review of KIA Rio X. Specifications and cost

I present to your attention a five-seater, five-door hatchback, KIA Rio X. A car from a South Korean automaker, recently assembled. KIA Rio X is a restyled version of the KIA Rio X-Line. The novelty appeared on sale at the end of 2020.
I came to the car dealership to examine the car in detail, as they say, with my own eyes and turn my attention to the build quality.
KIA Rio X differs from its counterpart in the KIA RiO lineup by its body shape, the presence of a plastic body kit and increased ground clearance. As for the power units, they are the same.
Let's look under the hood
At the time of the review, the KIA Rio X car was presented for sale with two engines and two transmissions. Front drive type.
Petrol (AI-92/95), four-cylinder, in-line engine, 1.4 liters, 100 horsepower. It can be paired with both a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Acceleration to 100 km/h:
On the mechanics – in 12.6 seconds.
On the machine – in 13.4 seconds.
Combined cycle fuel consumption per 100 km:
On the mechanics – 5.9 liters.
On the machine – 6.6 liters.
Petrol (AI-92/95), four-cylinder, in-line engine, 1.6 liter capacity, 123 horsepower. It is paired with a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Acceleration to 100 km/h:
- On the mechanics – in 10.7 seconds.
- On the machine – in 11.6 seconds.
Combined cycle fuel consumption per 100 km:
- On the mechanics – 6.6 liters.
- On the machine – 6.8 liters.
Both motors are very reliable, mileage is 500,000 km. not a problem for them. If you don't believe me, ask any taxi driver who drives a KIA Rio. Also, do not forget that no one canceled the replacement of consumables.
Dimensions
The car belongs to class B.
- Length 4275 mm.
- Width 1750 mm.
- Height 1535 mm.
- Wheelbase 2600 mm.
- The total weight of the car is approximately 1600 kg.
KIA Rio in a sedan body is longer than KIA Rio X, by 14.5 cm.
Let's look under the car
Front MacPherson strut suspension with integrated anti-roll bar. Front track width 1516 mm. I will assume that the metal protection of the engine compartment is installed in the showroom, as an extra. option.
Carrying body. Ground clearance is 19 centimeters, which is three centimeters more than the KIA Rio sedan. Disc brakes are installed on the front axle, drum brakes on the rear axle.
We see that the bottom is filled with anti-corrosion treatment. Note that this is an add-on. car dealership option, for which the future owner will pay about 15,000 conditional units. These are the realities of today's automotive industry. Car dealerships also need to somehow survive, especially now, when the demand for new cars is extremely small.
A beam is installed at the back, the suspension is spring, semi-dependent. In general, everything is budget. Why the car is easy to maintain and maintain, in almost any situation.
Side view
The gaps between the body elements are even. Nothing to complain about. Doors close/open without any extraneous sound. The shagreen on the paintwork is even, the surface shines well. I think five years is enough.
As for the KIA Rio X body, I don't understand why it ’s a hatchback, for me it’s a full-fledged station wagon.
Let's look in the trunk
With unfolded backrests of the second row of seats, the volume of the luggage compartment is 390 liters. KIA Rio has a sedan body with a trunk volume of 480 liters. The difference is 100 liters.
Under the raised floor is a spare wheel, with a set of tools for its dismantling. We see that the soundproofing plates are practically absent.
When the second row seats are folded out, the boot volume is 1,075 litres. The backs are laid out according to the formula 60/40, in an uneven floor.
On the second row
Sitting in the back seat, I will say: “Comfortable, but with my height of 180 cm, it's a bit crowded in the leg area.” I think that there will be enough space for two passengers, but when the third passenger sits down, we will have to win back the usable area.
Seat upholstery fabric. The material, according to tactile sensations, is wear-resistant. Artificial leather, only in the top configuration.
At the driver's workplace
The plastic from which the sheathing is made of deri is “wooden”.
It is comfortable to sit in the driver's seat, landing in it is comfortable, the doorway does not hinder movement. The range of adjustment of the steering column and seating position is enough to find a comfortable driving position.
Electric booster installed. The number of turns of the steering wheel, between the extreme positions, 2.7 turns. Required minimum turning radius for the car, 5.2 meters.
The instrument panel (Parpriz) looks modest, but attractive.
As you can see, there is no armrest in the tunnel part. But there are: niches for glasses, a mechanical hand brake and a beautiful automatic transmission selector lever.
Conclusion: Would I buy this car? Yes bought! The machine, though simple, but reliable. In the car dealership that I visited, the new KIA Rio X in the minimum configuration was sold for about 1,100,000 conventional units. In principle, this is the price of all budget cars today.
