Datsun Go and Datsun Go Plus – the first brand revived
The premiere of the Datsun go hatchback took place on July 15, 2013 in India, the presentation of the Datsun go + station wagon took place two months later, on September 17, 2013 in Indonesia. And on December 17, 2013, the head of the Datsun brand recently, Jérôme of this, announced that Japanese budget cars Datsun (the Datsun sedan on-DO and the Datsun Mi-DO hatchback at a price of less than 400 thousand conditional units in the fall of 2014 will be available to many motorists.
So quickly the management of the new Nissan company is resurrecting the old Datsun brand (cars with this logo were made in 1931-1986), contributing to the provision of affordable passenger cars in the markets of India, Indonesia, South Africa and more recently.
With India, the development of the revived Datsan model began, a compact five-door hatchback GO worth about 400 thousand Indian rupees (211 thousand). After him, the baton in Indonesia was taken over by the universal Datsun, plus the cost of 100 million Indonesian rupiah (about 270 thousand).
For example, the hatchback and wagon from Datsun will be trying to figure out what the Datsun sedan will be for lately. The production of the new budget Datzun sedan for the current market will be carried out at the facilities of the Volga Automobile Plant. Interestingly, the platform for the new truck service Lada Kalina and Lada Granta.
The exterior and interior design of the revived brand’s current firstborn will be slightly different from its right-hand siblings. For the external and internal design of the public sector, the responsibility is entrusted to the specialists of Japanese design Nissan. But the development of the body, chassis, engine and gearbox will be the overall result of the collaboration between VAZ and Nissan engineers.
The question reasonably arises why the price of a Datsun is almost twice as high as the cost of the Indian and Indonesian versions. The fact is that the domestic market will be prepared by a large car with a four-door sedan, a more powerful engine and rich content (air conditioning, music staff, ABC, two front airbags, additional body anti-corrosion treatment). How autonomica will look like is still a secret, but perhaps as in the photo below.
Back to the compact Datsun go hatchback and station wagon Datsun go +, able to accommodate seven passengers in its interior, including the driver, to view the car from the inside and outside.
Based on their modest prices, the cars look pretty simple and fresh, however, as befits a budget car. A team of Indian and Japanese designers, as best I could (given the modest budget approved by crisis manager Carlos Ghosn) was decorated in the usual state. The front end Ride and Ride+ claims to be stylish with large headlights and a large grille. The hood is decorated with original rib-stamping.
The sidewalls of the body are also with a hint of style, but with just a hint and nothing more. In a word, modesty and not exemplary, just cars for transportation. What else does a potential car enthusiast with a modest income need – a body, four wheels and a cabin with a minimum set of amenities.
The compact five-door hatchback Datsun go (seven-seater station wagon Datsun go+) is based on the Nissan Micra platform and has the following external body dimensions:
- 3785 mm (3995 mm) long, 1635 mm wide, 1485 mm high, 2450 mm wheelbase.
- Cars are equipped in the basic version 155/70 R13 with tires, as an option you can order larger 165/70 C14 tires, steel rims 13 and 14 radius with plastic caps, ground clearance (clearance) – 150 mm.
The interior of the Datsun hatchback and wagon-minivan go plus even more than the exterior of the car says, no, it screams that we have a budget device. Modest everything from the steering wheel, instrument panel, dashboard, center console, front seats to rear seats, door cards, materials used in trim and equipment.
I won’t talk about the convenience and comfort of passengers in the second and especially third row of the Datsun +. Space is lacking in the second-row rear seats, not to mention gallery seats.
The equipment has a minimum set of equipment: air conditioning, power front windows, an airbag for the driver, connectors for connecting smartphones and an MP3 player.
Specifications Datsun Go and Datsun Go Plus not only use the Nissan Micra platform with independent MacPherson strut front suspension and semi-independent torsion beam rear suspension, but a petrol 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine (76 hp 104 Nm) and is paired with 5 manual transmission and transmitting torque to the front wheels.
In fact, the new model Datsun Go and Datsun Go+ are the most budget version of the Nissan Micra hatchback with a simpler appearance and a modest interior.
I hope that Datsun will be the beginning of sunset, although not ideal, but loved by domestic motorists Lada Kalina and Lada Granta.
