Ford is divided into two: one division will deal with cars with internal combustion engines, the second – “electric trains”
It is expected that this will give impetus to the acceleration of the development of “green” cars of the brand without being tied to models with traditional internal combustion engines.
Ford home sales have continued to fall since 2016. The most significant decline in recent years was in the “covid” 2020, when 1,929,298 cars were sold (this result is 15.9% less than in 2019). At the end of last year, the brand again recorded a “minus”: buyers bought 1,804,824 copies, which is 6.5% less than a year earlier.
Now Ford has spoken about the division of its core business: for example, work on new cars with internal combustion engines in the future will be carried out by a division called Ford Blue. This name is likely a reference to the unofficial name of the brand: Blue Oval (blue/light blue oval symbolizing the brand logo). Kumar Galhotra became president of this Ford business, having previously served as the company's vice president.
The second division will be engaged in the development and production of new electric vehicles of the brand. He also got his own name: Ford Model e. The company's green division is staffed and led by Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Corporation.
It is worth noting that Ford Blue and Ford Model e will not operate autonomously: both divisions have access to all relevant and emerging technologies, as well as to the component base. New logos and other divisions are also not expected: under the Ford brand, both ICE cars and electric trains will continue to be presented. In addition, it is noted that the premium brand Lincoln (part of the Ford Corporation) will work with both divisions.

There are three electric models in the current Ford passenger car lineup today. The first-born is the Mustang Mach-E global crossover, which was introduced in the fall of 2019. Its sales in the domestic market began in early 2021. In its first year of sales, US dealers sold 27,140 units.
Another “green” model is the Ford F-150 Lightning pickup truck (an electric version of America's best-selling car, the F-150). Such a truck has already been introduced, but has not yet gone on sale (intended for the USA). The third electric vehicle is the Ford Territory EV SUV for China.

This year, Ford Corporation is going to invest about five billion dollars in the development of electric vehicles. Recall that the manufacturer is cooperating with the German company Volkswagen – in the future, mass production of a small “electric SUV” will be launched in Germany, which will be based on the MEB platform developed by VW. There may be several models.
Earlier it became known that Sollers Ford ceased its activities (the company's plant is located in Tatarstan). Transit commercial vehicles were produced here. The transporter stopped today, March 3, until further notice. Recall that the brand's passenger models left the current market in 2019.
