Sales of the Ford Puma will begin on the European market in December 2019 at a price of 17,000 euros. The production of new products for Europe will be carried out at the Ford plant in Romania, where, by the way, we are currently assembling the Ford EcoSport. Recently, the new Ford Puma SUV will not be officially sold due to the withdrawal of Ford Motor Company from the domestic market.

I want to note that the name Puma for Ford is not new. In the period from 1997 to 2002, the stylish two-door coupe Puma, built on the platform of the 4th generation Ford Fiesta hatchback, took part in the Blue Oval model line. The new Ford Puma crossover is also directly related to the Fiesta model, but, of course, the most extreme of the 7th generation. The new SUV is an improved and strengthened “truck” of the New Ford Fiesta at the end of 2016.

Face it, the new Ford Puma looks very much like a crossover, and looks like a steroid-ridden hatchback, but even higher up the road. However, the car showcases a modern and stylish body with high headlights, a signature smile false radiator grille embraced by a bumper with original plastic, inflated fender surfaces and side doors, round wheel arches, domed roof, high window sill, compact glass, powerful, but the diminutive Stern has bright general lighting, a tidy boot and a massive bumper.

In the photo presented in the review, the “sporty” version of the Ford Puma St. Line, flaunting black decor, large 18-inch wheels (large 19-inch wheels are optionally available), LED headlights and foglights, side lights with LED filling and a spoiler.

The basic version of the new Ford Puma SUV looks less impressive: 16-inch wheels, a minimum of decor … in a word, modestly.
The external body dimensions of the 2019-2020 Ford Puma are 4185 mm long, 1794 mm wide, 1560 mm high with a 2,494 mm wheelbase.

For the exterior, the Puma is designed to compete with the Volkswagen T-ROC, VW T-Cross, Hyundai Creta Kona and Hyundai, Kia and Kia Iron Seltos, a wide color palette: Magnet White Madrid White, Frozen White, Sunny Silver, Matter Gray, Blazer Blue and Desert island blue, race red and clear red, black agate.

If the body of the Ford Puma crossover your original interior, the novelty inherited from the Fiesta sister platform. The list of optional equipment has a lot of modern and very useful features: a virtual instrument panel with color with a 12.3-inch display, an 8.0-inch SYNC 3 multimedia system (voice control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), a panoramic roof, an audio system B&OS 10 speakers, driver and front passenger seats with integrated massageroom (waist and back), adaptive cruise control with Stop&GO function, advanced active safety suite, Ford co-pilot360 (12 ultrasonic sensors, three radars and two cameras), wireless charging pad smartphones and an innovative mis-warning system,

Of particular note is the luggage compartment, which can accommodate up to 456 liters of usable cargo volume behind the second-row seat backs, however, given the 80-liter megabox department store, which is underground. The compartment under the floor can be washed directly from the hose without fear of filling the trunk (drainage hole at the bottom).

Specifications Ford Puma

New compact crossover platform Ford B-car with front independent suspension (McPherson strut) and Semi rear suspension (beam working in bending) as the closest relative of the Ford Fiesta. However, the Ford Puma received a stiffer beam, original springs and shock absorbers, and more powerful suspension attachment points. The default drive is on the front wheels, and, apparently, Ford Puma will not do an all-wheel drive transmission, at least for cars in Europe.

Under the hood of the new Ford Puma crossover, from the start of sales on the European market, very interesting power plants will be registered – the EcoBoost 1.0 hybrid engine is offered in two power options of 125 and 155 forces. Innovative mild hybrid setup, consisting of a three-cylinder turbocharged 1.0 EcoBoost engine, a 48-volt starter alternator in a BISG belt drive and a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery. The transmission is a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed robotic transmission will be available later for an additional fee.

When starting the generator, BISG adds up to 15.6 hp to the internal combustion engine. with. and 50 Nm, and when braking, energy is recuperated into a battery for reuse. The new technology, according to Ford, saves about 9% of fuel, so owners can expect an average fuel consumption of 5.4 to 5.6 liters per hundred.

By the way, the manufacturer has a discreet and simple engine for the new Ford Puma. The base engine is a three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost 1.0 engine (125 hp) with a start / stop system and shutdown at low loads per cylinder.
A turbodiesel from the EcoBlue family will also be offered for the new model.
